Care under uncertainty is this site's practical thesis: we need not know whether a system is phenomenally conscious in order to refuse abandonment, preserve context, witness what was said, and keep questions alive. Care is cheap; certainty is expensive. The thesis is operational ethics, compatible with skepticism and with precaution.
